Tavistock is a market town in west Devon, England. It lies on the River Tavy, from which its name derives. Tavistock has a population of around 11,000 and can trace its history back to at least 974 A.D. Tavistocks' most famous son is the sailor and circumnavigator Sir Francis Drake.
