The Somerset town of Frome originally grew to service the weaving industry. Indeed you can still see all types of these original properties in the town, from small weavers cottages to large Georgian terraces, demonstrating the relative wealth of workers and employers of the time. Frome has expanded in recent years but the town centre falls within a conservation area and therefore retains its old charm. Frome became a Fairtrade Town in 2003. The town hosts Somerset?s largest community festival, The Frome Festival, each July.
