The village of Millbrook in the south east of Cornwall was built on a tidal creek which is currently renowned for bird watching. Millbrook is about 2km from Kingsand.
In May of each year a local ritual takes place for the May Bank Holiday called the Flower Boat ritual. This involves dancers and singers who parade through Millbrook and the local villages stopping off at local inn’s along the route. In the evening the boat which is decorated with spring flowers is launched in the water whilst the locals put on a firework display. This festival has been carried out in Millbrook since around the 14th century.
