The village of Croyde forms part of north-west Devon, it is south of Woolacombe and near the town of Braunton. The name Croyde is believed to be from an Anglo Saxon settlement nearby that was named Cridda.
Croyde is a popular tourist resort especially surfers who refer to Croyde Bay as The Place of Legends or The Place of Kings because of its perfect beach. There are also a number of small campsites and a holiday park which cater for the many visitors. Croyde also offers excellent walking with the South West Coast Path where you can access Baggy Point a National Trust place of interest. The coastline and landscapes are protected as an area of outstanding natural beauty.
Over the last 30 years property prices have risen due to tourism and many farmers have converted fields into caravan and camping sites. Croyde has also proved to be a popular place to own a second home.
