The town of Dawlish on the south coast of Devon is about 12 miles from Exeter, 25 miles from Modbury and 9 miles from Torquay and has a population of approximately 13k residents. Dawlish has grown from a small fishing town into a popular seaside resort. The older parts of the town are located at red cliffs and the sandy coastline is referred to as Dawlish Warren. Dawlish sits on the River Water which is sometimes referred to as The Brook and has a backdrop of red sandstone cliffs. To the south west of Dawlish you can find Lea Mount, Boat Cove and Coryton Cove. Going North East along the seawall Langstone Rock is about two km away and will lead you to the resort town of Dawlish Warren.

The town’s name comes from a local stream that has a Brythonic name which was once spelt Deawlisc (Devil Water). This is due to the heavy rains that churn up the red cliffs and turn the water red.


Dawlish is also famed for black swans which where introduced to the area from Western Australia.

Property prices in Dawlish remained stable during 2007 and in August 2007 you would have expected to pay about £230k for a three bedroom property for sale in good condition.
