The market town of Bridgwater is in Somerset and near to Somerset Levels, Mendip Range and Quantock hills. The River Parrett runs through it. Bridgwater is around 18 miles north of Chard, 15 miles from Ilminster and 22 miles from Minehead.
The population in the 2001 census was around 36.5k residents. In 1951 the population was only 22.7k and many housing projects started soon after in Rhode Land and Sydenham.
If you approach Bridgwater from the M5 you may see the Willow Man sculpture. The Willow Man is 12m high and made from willow and often referred to as the Angel of the South.
In September the Bridgwater Fair takes place and goes on for four days in St Matthews Field. July sees the annual Somerfest arts festival which celebrates jazz, rock and classical music.
