HIPs on Hold

This week the government has delayed any further roll out of HIPs (Home Information Packs). The Parliamentary under secretary of state for housing and planning Iain Wright has acknowledged that while the housing market is going through an uncertain time no further additions to HIPs will be announced. He also stated that the recent restrictions on lending and the slowing down of the property market have been the reason behind the decision. September 10th was the last time any changes where made to HIPs when they started to include three bedroom properties. Currently one and two bedroom homes do not need to acquire a HIP when being sold.

The Conservatives have already stated that they will abandon HIPs altogether if they came into power.
