New Homes
A report recently issued by the National Housing and Planning Advice Unit (NHPAU) say that 270k properties need to be constructed in the UK to meet demand. It was said that the UK are building less homes now than in the 30’s when the population was lower. They also went on to say that this was a realistic figure and we are behind our build rate compared to other countries.
They feel property prices will continue to rise and this could have a knock on effect on affordability in years to come. An average property in the UK is around seven times the average pay. This figure may go up to as much as nine times even if these new properties are built.
The population in the UK is expected to grow to near 70 million by the year 2028 and we need to keep up with the demand for property but at an affordable rate.
