How Useful are HIPs
The roll out of HIPs was completed in England back in December 2007 but has it made an impact. HIPs where supposed to improve the time in which a sale completes but Estate Agents disagree. They think they are useless and a waste of time. It is thought the only people who have benefited so far are first time buyers. Firstly because they do not need to pay out for a HIP and secondly because they are new buyers all information is useful to them.
It is argued that HIPs still do not contain enough of the right information such as costs for council tax and utility bills. Some parts of the HIP are not compulsory like the Home Condition Report which could give buyers valuable information.
