Interest rates

It is rumoured that the Bank of England will cut interest rates at least three times during 2008 to avert a recession. We could even see rates as low as 4.75% if not lower by 2009.

It is expected that the first of these reductions will come in February and be around 0.25%. This month the Bank of England decided to keep the current interest rates of 5.5%.
