The Cost of Borrowing

From 1997 to 2007 property prices has risen by more than 3 times to a total of £4 trillion. Over the same time frame secured borrowing and unsecured borrowing has also tripled. Secured has risen from £430 billion to £102 trillion and unsecured is now up to £200 billion.

These figures are from the Halifax who also stated that our net household wealth has doubled over this same period to £6.7 trillion.
